The best preparation

Tips for your stay in autumn

You are staying at an enchanting time of year. It’s a time of abundant colour in every layer of the forest, the sun breaking through scattered clouds after a heavy shower and animals preparing to hibernate. De Maashorst is incredibly beautiful at this time of year. It is beneficial to bring the right clothes to enjoy an outdoor life. As the nights gradually get cooler, staying at Cabin ANNA will start to feel a little more adventurous.

Your Cabin ANNA is equipped with a woodburning stove, a warm feather duvet, hot water bottles, woollen rugs and even warm socks. You may need to turn up the heat at night, or you may prefer to take a hot water bottle to bed with you. We recommend you pack your slippers and wear several layers of warm indoor and outdoor clothing for maximum comfort. WARM ON TOP

Are you going exploring in De Maashorst? A warm hat is essential. It should not only cover the head, but the ears and neck too. You may also want to bring a good pair of gloves if it gets really cold.

WOOLLEN SOCKS

Wool is by far the best material when it comes to choosing warm socks because it keeps your feet warm even when your socks are damp. Warm feet are essential to keep your whole body warm.

MOISTURE TRANSFER

The layer closest to the body should absorb moisture. Choose wool or a wool blend. A fleece, preferably windproof, is an excellent mid-layer.

SLEEPING

For night-time in Cabin ANNA, we recommend wearing warm socks and possibly thermal underwear and a hat, especially if you want to spend the night in the open air. If you get cold at night, you can wear several layers that allow for good ventilation of body heat. Choose breathable materials to prevent perspiration.

EXTRA PAIR OF SHOES AND SOCKS

Autumn is a time of heavy showers. Bring an extra pair of shoes and socks in case you are unexpectedly caught in a shower during a long walk.

WIND PROTECTION

The purpose of a jacket is to provide protection against wind and rain in combination with other outer layers. The material should be breathable and allow easy movement, for example Gore-Tex. An extra down jacket, thick fleece or woollen jumper works as an effective extra layer for keeping warm.
